Tour Itinerary Details
The first day of Discovery Cambodia Mekong Tour, one of our tour guides will pick you up from the Siem Reap International Airport and transfer to hotel. After check-in at the hotel, visiting the temples, start shortly thereafter. This morning, you will start to visit Roluos Group Temples: Preah Ko, Bakong, and Lolei Temple. The temples are built from the early of Angkor Period (802-1431). Preah Ko temple was built by King Indravarman I in 879. Bakong was built in 881. And Lolei was built by king Yasovarman I in 893, having lunch at local Restaurant.
In the afternoon after lunch, you will visit the magnificent temple of Angkor Wat which is the largest temple in Angkor site, Angkor Wat was built by King Suryavarman II (1113 – 1150) to dedicate to God “Vishnu”. The temple is known as the wonder of the world, located in UNESCO site 401 square kilometers. The best time to photograph beautiful view is during sunrise and sunset, having dinner at local restaurant.
On the second day of Discovery Cambodia Mekong Tour, Departure to the north of Siem Reap to visit the Ta Prohm, then the citadel of woman – Banteay Srei a jewel indisputable of the Khmer art: entirely having been constructed by hard pink sandstone and perfectly preserved and restored. You will then drive back to visit AKIRA landmine museum and then continue to see the production of Palm Sugar at the villages call Preah Dak Village along the way to Angkor Site, having lunch at local restaurant.
In the afternoon after lunch, you will visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon, which located in the center of Angkor Thom “Great City” of Cambodia, during the reign of King Jayavarman VII (1181-1218). It is impressive of 4 faces of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva of Mahayana Buddhism. You will go on to Baphuon, Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, and Elephant Terrace and Leper King Terrace. Today you will have a great buffet dinner with the Apsara dance show.
On the third day, you will start with a visit to Preah Khan temple, which was known as an old temporary city of king Jayavarman VII (1181-1218). You will continue to Neak Pean Temple, which was one of the 102 ancient hospitals of King Jayavarman VII who built this hospital temple for taking care people’s health. Eastern Mebon and Pre Rup temple will be visited later on. These two temples were built by the same king ‘Rajendra Varman II (944-967) to dedicate his ancestors, having lunch at local restaurant.
After lunch will be out for a visit by boat, you will discovery the great lake “Tonle Sap“: real Interior Ocean where there are a lot of fish which exported by the multiple villages of fishermen who you have got the occasion to approach. You will visit as well a crocodile farm and have dinner at local restaurant.
Today is a long distance tour to the North-East of Siem Reap (130KM) to visit the group of Koh Ker temples and you will discover ancient capital of Cambodia during the 10th century. Jayavarman IV (922-944) built Prasat Thom on 7 stories Pyramidal base. And you will visit many other temples such as Linga Temple, Prasat Neang Khmao, and Package lunch from Siem Reap.
This afternoon, you will visit Beng Mealea Temple which is built in the 12th century. It is the one was invaded by jungle. The temple was a model of the building of Angkor Wat in Angkor site. Then you are going on to discovery about O Thmor Dab “Quarry”, the quarry of all temples in Cambodia. You will see the traces of Khmer ancestors cut the sandstone to build all temples in the areas. Then travel directly to Kratie province.
After your breakfast, you will travel out of Kratie where you will enjoy a real of our Discovery Cambodia Mekong Tour on the old National Road #7 via Kampi. After the first 9km, you will pass Thma Kre village – particularly famous for its sticky rice in bamboo or Krolan. You will not be able to see the processing of these delicacies as it is produced late at night in order to catch the Phnom Penh markets the next morning. Near this village on the right is Phnom Sambok. The pagoda on this hill itself has many interesting paintings on display.
Then continue to Kampi, one of the many deep pools where the rare river dolphins gather to feed. We board a local boat and cruise out into the mighty Mekong for a chance encounter with these gentle mammals. Viewing is guaranteed as they always come up to breath every 5 or 10 minutes. After enjoying an hour or more of Mekong river dolphin viewing, (During the dry season we may visit Kampi rapid, one of the most popular seasonal resort in Cambodia) we travel to Sambor where we can have local lunch.
After the lunch break, you will visit Wat Sarsar Mouy Roy or 100 Pillars Pagoda. The 100 Pillars Wat (Wat Sarsar Mouy Roy) was rebuilt in 1997 after being destroyed by the Pol Pot Regime. It now has 116 pillars. Three wooden pillars are all that is left of the original wooden Wat that was built in 1529. They are displayed at the rear of the Vihear (temple). At this pagoda, you will be surrounded by historical artifacts in a beautiful, tranquil setting, with buildings and rituals that make up an authentic Buddhist experience. The story about the princess buried there is illustrated in a pavilion behind. Our tour guide will explain the history of this one of the biggest pagoda in Cambodia related to the crocodile who transformed from the monk and killed the princess. Next to the pagoda, there is a Mekong Turtle Conservation Center which has just been run June 2011. The project is running to preserve the most endangered Mekong Softshell Turtle. The Mekong turtles have nearly gone from the world because they are easy to be eaten by big fishes, snack, and hunted by the human.
After breakfast, Leaving from the homestay to take the ferry across the river to the west bank of the Mekong River. It is an opportunity to stop and take photos at the rural countryside. You will see the flood forests and the rapids from the bank of the river before you have a very local lunch in Keach Top. After a lunch break, you come to see Khmer noodle production and you will learn how to make noodle from rice. Our journey continues to see the production of local rice whiskey, and of course sample some for yourself. Before returning to another ferry, you will visit a farm which grows many different vegetables and fruits such as coconut, banana, mango, papaya, guava, oranges, and also famous sweet grapefruit (Pomelo). We will be back to the hotel around 4 pm.
Ready to leave from Kratie and back to the capital city of Phnom Penh where you will discover another destination of our Discovery Cambodia Mekong Tour. When arrived in Phnom Penh you will have enough time to relax and overnight in Phnom Penh.
Today will visit the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, and National Museum and see new big Market call “Pha Thom Thmey” which is the largest old market building in Cambodia and it was built during the French time. After that having lunch at the local Restaurant.

This morning you will visit Phnom Udong where the ashes of ancient Khmer kings and Buddha were installed in numerous Stupa.
After lunch visit Wat Phnom, an Independent monument as well as visiting the Genocide Museum, Killing Field “Cheung Ek“. Then you can enjoy shopping at the Russian market. Dinner at the local Restaurant.
